Essential Functions
- Afford assistance to the director in project planning, estimation, and execution.
- Familiarity with tools of trade, interpretation of diagrams and schematics, codes, and types of materials.
- Regular inspections and testing of medical air, vacuum, and chillers, life safety equipment, signal/alarm equipment, communication, and plant distribution/operation systems.
- Competent isolation of defects in HVAC wiring, switches, motors, and HVAC equipment components using test equipment.
- Accurate installation of new HVAC equipment machinery; study blueprints/diagrams/specs sheets to determine layout, location, and cost estimate if needed.
- Maintain life safety equipment and ensure its documentation is up-to-date.
- Adhere to an attitude of life safety and energy conservation.
- Oversee HVAC concerns at all facilities.
- Support SDS, Hazardous Communication, EOC, and Infection Control policies and procedures.
- Answer routine questions about hospital and departmental operations, policies, and procedures.
- Perform as a maintenance mechanic when not fulfilling tradesman roles.
- Handle supplemental duties including operating and repairing HVAC Air Handler units, working with building management systems, maintaining transit tube systems, managing filter replacement programs, and overseeing HVAC supply, return, and exhaust systems.
Required Skills
- Minimum Education: High School Diploma, GED, Trade School, or College preferred.
- Minimum Experience: 3 years experience, factory training on HVAC operation preferred.
