About the role
We are seeking an Engineering Field Service Technician to support the deployment, maintenance, and sustainment of our uncrewed surface vessel fleet. This role is highly hands-on and requires strong technical troubleshooting skills across mechanical, electrical, communications, and systems domains.
Key Responsibilities
- Travel to customer sites, test ranges, and demonstration events to provide hands-on maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of USVs and related subsystems
- Support field operations in demanding maritime, test, and customer-facing environments
- Represent HavocAI professionally while working directly with customers, partners, and internal teams
- Perform mechanical and electrical system maintenance, component replacement, and corrective actions to keep vehicles mission-ready
- Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, communications, and system-level issues in the field
- Work with engineering teams to implement temporary field fixes and long-term corrective actions
- Install new subsystems, hardware modifications, and software updates on deployed vehicles
- Support sea trials, system tests, demonstrations, and operational evaluations
- Validate vehicle and subsystem performance against engineering specifications
- Document test results, field findings, failures, and corrective actions
- Provide clear feedback to engineering teams to improve reliability, maintainability, and performance
- Prepare equipment, spare parts, tools, and service kits for deployment
- Maintain accurate service records, inventory, maintenance logs, and field activity reports
- Create, update, and maintain user manuals, service guides, and maintenance documentation
- Ensure maintenance actions, repairs, and system updates are clearly documented for traceability and continuous improvement
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in field service, maintenance, technical support, or related hands-on technical roles, preferably involving complex electromechanical systems
- Experience troubleshooting and maintaining electrical and communication systems
- Comfortable working in maritime environments
- Hands-on skills in mechanical assembly, wiring, system integration, and component-level troubleshooting
- Strong troubleshooting skills, particularly across electrical and electromechanical systems
- Familiarity with field service tools, test equipment, and safety procedures, including oscilloscopes, multimeters, hi-pot testers, serial communications analyzers, and related diagnostic equipment
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, wiring diagrams, PCB schematics, and maintenance manuals
- Ability to learn and implement basic software-based maintenance and troubleshooting programs, scripts, and prompts
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently in challenging environments
- Comfortable with extensive travel, approximately 50–75% of the time, including potential international assignments
- U.S. citizenship and eligibility to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent military or industry experience
Preferred Skills
- Experience with maritime, aerospace, defense, robotics, or autonomous systems
- Knowledge of propulsion systems, including electric and internal combustion engines
- Experience with electrical power distribution and battery systems
- Prior experience supporting DoD customers or operating in military environments
- Familiarity with configuration management and documenting maintenance actions
- Ability to adapt quickly to rapidly evolving technologies and field conditions
- Familiarity with CAD tools, preferably SolidWorks
- Experience with Microsoft Office, SharePoint, Confluence, and Jira
