Key Responsibilities
- Perform construction inspections to ensure compliance with engineering plans, specifications, contracts, and City standards.
- Review construction plans, shop drawings, and related project documents.
- Cookordinate with contractors and City personnel to resolve issues and maintain project progress.
- Maintain accurate inspection records and project documentation.
- Respond to inquiries from citizens, contractors, and City officials.
- Identify problems and recommend effective solutions.
Qualifications
- Ability to read and interpret construction plans, engineering drawings, specifications, and shop drawings.
- Knowledge of construction methods, materials, standards, and inspection practices.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to perform mathematical calculations involving measurements, fractions, percentages, ratios, and geometry.
- Ability to work independently in a field environment and provide clear direction when needed.
Work Environment
- Works outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Frequently required to walk on uneven terrain, climb ladders, lift manhole covers, and work around construction-related noise, dust, and fumes.
- May also visit remote construction sites with limited access to public facilities.
Must Possess Or Obtain Within Two Years Of Employment
- Adequate DEQ Stormwater/Erosion and Sediment Control Inspector certification.
- VDOT certification for materials and construction.
- ASPHALT PAVING CERTIFICATE, ASHRAE PLANT MIX DESIGN, CONCRETE CERTIFICATE, etc.
