About the role

During your 10‑weeks on our Engineering and Technology Internship programme, you’ll gain invaluable insight into the breadth of our work and discover where you’d like to take your career with us. You’ll join our Engineering, Technology and Safety organisation, which supports all our different divisions. You’ll gather experience across the engineering lifecycle and building capabilities such as mechanical systems, manufacturing, software and digital, electrical, materials and development. This could be within our central Engineering, Technology and Safety teams or within our Civil Aerospace, Defence, Defence Nuclear Submarines or Power Systems divisions. We want to give you a breadth of experience across Rolls‑Royce to build your network. You could be asked to support in our Civil, Power or Defence functions, depending on business needs.

Responsibilities

  • Working on exciting and varied projects – from exploring Nuclear options for powering the UK’s fleet of Naval Submarines, to helping develop next‑generation demonstrator engines such as the UltraFan or for the Global Combat Air Programme.
  • Using data, technology and AI to improve environmental performance at power stations, test marine automation software or strengthen cyber‑security.
  • Developing through a mix of digital learning, on‑the‑job training and opportunities that bring your ideas to life in meaningful ways.
  • Accessing opportunities for continuous learning.

Requirements

  • A degree in any STEM subject, or joint honours degrees that combine STEM with subjects like business or economics.
  • A strong passion for the future of technology.
  • Being open‑minded, curious and agile in your approach to work and career development.
  • Aligning with our behaviours: putting safety first, doing the right thing, keeping it simple and making a difference.

Benefits

  • Meaningful work from day one, with the support to help you succeed.
  • A culture that invests in your personal and professional development.
  • The chance to grow your skills while working on real projects in a global company.
  • Along with your salary, you’ll get 33 days’ annual leave, including bank holidays (pro rata).
  • Access to an independent, 24‑hour, confidential counselling service.

Schedule

We see hybrid working as a way to balance and flex our time between the office, home, or another remote working place. Everyone is expected on site, on average, a minimum three days per week. Specific arrangements will vary from role to role, and we encourage and support flexible working arrangements where possible.

Closing date: Friday 13th November 2026. Assessment centres will take place between November – December.
