About the role
Develops, analyzes, researches, and designs welding techniques, procedures, and applications. Uses engineering principles to manipulate materials for fabrication and assembly processes. Prepares technical documentation in order to implement waterfront welding processes including specifications, analyses, standards, and restrictions. Creates new or modifies current welding methods, techniques, and procedures in order to substantiate welding theories.
Requirements
Must have a Bachelor's Degree and 9 years of relevant exempt experience; Master's Degree and 7 years of relevant professional experience; Ph.D. and 4 years of experience. Newport News Shipbuilding requires a Bachelor's Degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program.
Nice to have: Ideal candidates will have welding engineering, welding technology, material science or metallurgy backgrounds.

Pay
The anticipated salary range is $155,000.00 to $195,000.00. Final compensation will be determined based on experience, qualifications, and other job-related factors, and may vary from the posted range.
Schedule
Full-time, 1st shift. Travel requirements: Yes, 10%-25% of the time. Relocation assistance will be available.
