U.S. Citizenship is required for this position. This is a full-time, 1st shift role located at Newport News Shipbuilding. Relocation assistance is not available, and telework is not eligible.
About the Role
Designs manufacturing processes, procedures, and production layouts for assemblies, equipment installation, processing, machining, and material handling. Designs the arrangement of machines within plant facilities to ensure the most efficient and productive layout. Designs the sequence of operations and specifies procedures for the fabrication of tools and equipment, adapting machine or equipment design to factory and production conditions.
Incorporates inspection and test requirements into the production plan. Inspects performance of machinery, equipment, and tools to verify their efficiency and investigates and initiates corrective action for problems and deficiencies to ensure product quality. Develops manufacturing processes applicable to statistical process control and may develop those techniques.
Provides guidance to engineering regarding design concepts and specification requirements to best utilize equipment and manufacturing techniques. Ensures processes and procedures comply with regulations.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program.
- Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree and 9 years of relevant exempt experience, or
- Master’s Degree and 7 years of relevant professional experience, or
- Ph.D. and 4 years of relevant professional experience.
