Duties and Responsibilities
- Assess, communicate, and execute the short-term resource availability and prepare the Unit Commitment Plan for review and approval by Grid Operations.
- Communicate and coordinate with plant personnel, Grid Operations, Wholesale Marketing, Planning & Fuels, and other departments.
- Conduct daily, weekly, and monthly power transaction pricing and system economic evaluations for Marketing and Fuels department.
- Plan integrated supply-side and demand-side resource alternatives to meet the reliability and economic needs of Tampa Electric Company.
- Conduct short-term analyses to develop energy resource utilization alternatives and make recommendations based on cost-effectiveness and reliability.
- Conduct independent engineering studies and analyses in areas such as capacity utilization, modeling techniques, and operational effectiveness, making technical recommendations for process improvement.
- Conduct benchmarking activities and review of existing modeling methods, recommending continuous improvement revisions in either the models or methods.
- Provide technical analysis in support of various strategic business issues and develop policy and strategic initiatives that further the interests of Tampa Electric Company and TECO Energy.
Education
- Required: Bachelor of Science in Engineering degree from an ABET accredited college.
- PREFERRED: Master’s level degree in business or technical field from a college accredited by the Commission on Colleges or ABET.
Licenses/Certifications
- PREFERRED: Valid registration as a Florida Professional Engineer.
Experience
- Required: Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited college. Related experience consists of: wholesale marketing, system planning, engineering, operations, PC rate-making or revenue requirements.
- PREFERRED: Four years of related experience consisting of wholesale marketing, system planning, engineering, operations, PC rate-making or revenue requirements.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
- Required: Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
- PREFERRED: Basic knowledge of Microsoft SQL and SharePoint and advanced knowledge of Excel (use of pivot tables, macros, etc.).
Work Conditions
- Requires working extended hours and weekends.
- Requires emergency management storm duty.
- Frequent travel is required.

Storm Duty Requirements
