About the role
JT4, LLC provides engineering and technical support to multiple western test ranges for the U.S. Air Force, Space Force, and Navy under the Joint Range Technical Services Contract, better known as J-Tech II. JT4 develops and maintains realistic, integrated test and training environments and prepares our nation's war-fighting aircraft, weapons systems, and aircrews for today's missions and tomorrow's global challenges.
Job Duties - Essential Functions
- Planning, test reporting, and scheduling mission requirements for ground and flight tests by developing and maintaining flight test support materials including flight/ground test cards.
- Determine and communicate aircraft test and configuration requirements to the responsible discipline engineering, maintenance, and flight operations teams to ensure aircraft readiness.
- Congduct test missions from a control room.
- Perform Test Conductor duties after all qualification criteria have been met.
- Lead the control room team, test mission briefings, and post-flight debriefs.
- Individual will also become a Unit Test Safety Officer (UTSO), reviewing, editing, and signing off on flight test safety plans.
- Your typical day may include any of the following: Collaborating across a broad spectrum of individuals and disciplines. Developing plans for upcoming testing. Briefing and conducting ground and flight testing in a Mission Control Room (MCR) and debriefing the test team. Evaluating test results and working to resolve any issues encountered. Leading and implementing process improvements to increase test efficiency.
Desired Skills
- Above average and effective communication and coordination skills.
- Experience and understanding of control room conduct, principles of Situational Awareness, and Crew Resource Management (CRM).
- Ability to interface with all levels of Combined Test Force (CTF) management including Program Managers, Engineers, Test Conductors, and military personnel.
- Innovative mindset is an absolute plus for this opportunity.
- Airmanship skills (prior military flying as a Pilot, FTE, and/or FAA general aviation flying experience).
- Graduate of a recognized Test Pilot School (USAF TPS, Navy TPS, EPNER, ETPS, NTPS, etc.).
Requirements - Education, Technical, And Work Experience
- A Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an ABET-accredited academic institution and 14 years of related engineering experience, or an accredited Master of Science in Engineering and a minimum of 10 years of related engineering experience, or an accredited doctorate degree in engineering and a minimum of eight (8) years of related engineering experience are required for this position.
- An Engineer V must possess the following qualifications: Well-established, substantial, professional reputation in one or more of the principal technical disciplines of the company. Demonstrated ability to direct senior technical personnel in project assignments involving research, development, integration, and sustainment of complex systems or processes. Working knowledge of computer systems and computer-based engineering tools. Superior communications skills, both verbal and written, in day-to-day project activities as well as in briefing customers and in writing reports and proposals. Planning/organizational skills and the ability to work under deadlines.
- Must possess a valid, state issued driver’s license.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain security clearance.
