About the role

This position requires extensive experience in the design and operation of Pressurized Water Reactor (PWR) and Boiling Water Reactor (BWR) plants, including primary and secondary systems. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in feasibility studies, equipment reliability, and system modifications and upgrades.

Responsibilities

  • Perform calculations, modifications, and designs independently while presenting and justifying modification packages to quality and safety reviews.
  • Evaluate conditions and develop design changes to improve plant performance, safety, and reliability, working collaboratively with project teams.
  • Interface with equipment vendors to ensure smooth project execution.
  • Apply knowledge of codes and standards pertinent to the nuclear power industry, and adhere to applicable state and federal regulations (including the NRC).
  • Communicate effectively with clients, other engineers, and project teams, coordinating efforts to achieve project goals.
  • Prepare and present design documents to client review boards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
  • Minimum of 15 years of relevant engineering experience, with 10 years including a Professional Engineer (PE) license.
  • At least 5 years of commercial nuclear power industry experience preferred.
  • Familiarity with PWR and/or BWR plant systems is advantageous.
  • Experience with calculations, feasibility studies, engineering evaluations, system modifications, and upgrades to improve safety and reliability.
  • Ability to review and check designs, drawings, and data prepared by other engineers.

Qualifications

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with proficiency in Mathcad, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Effective time management and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to pass security and drug screening, and maintain unescorted access to commercial nuclear power plants.
  • Understanding and compliance with company policies, procedures, and processes.
  • Ability to work overtime and travel to client sites, including on-site field/office work.
  • Physical ability to perform walk downs of equipment in industrial plant environments, including climbing ladders, accessing security-controlled areas, and entering confined spaces and controlled hazardous areas.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET-accredited university.
  • Engineer-In-Training (EIT) registration.
