About the role
The Engineer V, I&C position involves performing a variety of engineering and design activities related to power plant upgrades and new projects. Key responsibilities include planning, organizing, and preparing modifications, developing specifications and modification packages, defining I&C design scope, and managing budgets, schedules, and quality.
Responsibilities
- Developing specifications and/or modification packages
- Defining I&C design scope
- Developing design criteria documents
- Selecting control valves and instruments
- Developing control system functionality
- Developing control system architectures
- Defining I/O device interfaces
- Managing budget, scope, schedule, and quality associated with the designated work assignment
- Interfacing and coordinating with multiple design disciplines and customer representatives
- Evaluating and proposing modifications to improve plant performance, safety, and reliability
- Mentoring and overseeing junior engineers
Requirements
- BS in electrical, mechanical, nuclear, chemical, computer or process/controls engineering from an ABET accredited program with 18+ years of experience, including at least 8 years in nuclear power and digital/analog controls systems
- Experience with operating plant procedures, processes, and nuclear plant licensing
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, proficiency in Microsoft Office, and effective time management
- Ability to pass security and drug screening and maintain unescorted nuclear plant access
- Ability to perform walk downs of equipment in an industrial plant environment, including climbing ladders, accessing security-controlled areas, and entering confined spaces and controlled hazardous areas
Qualifications
- Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as presentation skills
- Must have a thorough understanding of digital control systems design based on the latest digital platforms
- Must be familiar with codes and standards applicable to the nuclear power industry and possess a working knowledge of applicable NRC regulations
- Must be able to pass security and drug screening and maintain unescorted nuclear plant access
- Must be able to manage project teams and provide technical oversight
Skills
Engineer V, I&C must have experience in reviewing and checking designs, drawings, and data prepared by other engineers. They should also be capable of devising new approaches to technical problems with a broad knowledge of precedents in the industry.
