About the role
Responsible for engineering design and support for power distribution. Performs a wide variety of planning, maintenance, and design engineering activities related to routine, non-routine, and emergency restoration duties. Project areas may include grid/system design, operations and maintenance, planning, asset management, reliability, computer applications, safety, and root cause failure analysis.
Responsibilities
- Perform load flow analysis and circuit coordination analysis utilizing SynerGEE.
- Identify and develop a plan to correct Un-Balanced loads on distribution circuits.
- Develop settings, program, and size all field equipment including but not limited to Reclosers, Fuses, Capacitors, and Regulators.
- Review all new distributed energy resource technical documents and customer equipment to ensure compliance with Entergy’s standards and policies.
- Perform Root Cause Failure Analysis on failures with unknown causes.
- Develop planned switching orders for the network.
- Troubleshoot power quality issues.
- Provide technical guidance to the Engineering Associates and local area line groups.
- Create, Review, and recommend for approval electrical designs that meet customer needs, comply with company standards and enhance the overall system performance and reliability.
- Participate in meetings with external customers, architects, developers, contractors and government entities to communicate standards and guidelines.
- Perform engineering calculations to aid in planning and corrective measure projects.
- Assist with storm restoration efforts both local and out of town.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering Discipline (typically Electrical, Mechanical, Civil and Chemical, Industrial) from four year accredited institution. Degrees in engineering technology (typically, Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, Chemical, and Industrial) from a four year accredited institution with PE may be considered. Preferred: Electrical, Mechanical and Civil.
- Engineer I - 0 to 2 years experience in an engineering discipline.
- Engineer II - 2+ years experience in an engineering discipline.
- Engineer III - 4+ years experience in an engineering discipline.
- Engineer Sr - 6+ years experience in an engineering discipline.
- Must have valid driver's license and good driving record.

Working Conditions
- Must be available for 24 hour call out and extended hours as necessary.
- As a provider of essential services, Entergy expects its employees to be available to work additional hours, to work in alternate locations, and/or to perform additional duties in connection with storms, outages, emergencies, or other situations as deemed necessary by the company.
- Travel up to 25%.
