Location: Construction Division - Pine Bluff, Jefferson County

Anticipated starting salary: $71,027.00. Salary range: $71,027 – $105,120.

All positions are designated as Safety Sensitive and subject to random drug testing. Medical marijuana usage is prohibited for personnel in safety-sensitive positions, even with a registry identification card.

About the role

The Engineer applies core engineering principles and scientific methods to a wide range of projects, systems, or processes. This versatile role spans areas such as mechanical, civil, electrical, industrial, or software engineering, depending on the agency’s needs. Engineers research, design, test, and improve products or processes, ensuring efficiency, quality, and compliance with industry standards. They serve as problem-solvers who bridge theoretical concepts and practical applications, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to deliver innovative solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Conceptualize and develop engineering designs for projects, from initial research and feasibility studies through implementation.
  • Create technical drawings, schematics, and prototypes using computer-aided design and other modeling tools.
  • Analyze scientific data and perform experiments or simulations to validate design hypotheses.
  • Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve technical issues throughout the project lifecycle, recommending practical improvements or alternative solutions.
  • Prepare detailed reports, documentation, and presentations that communicate technical findings, design choices, and process improvements to both technical and non-technical personnel.
  • Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with regulatory and safety standards.
  • Work closely with other engineering teams, production personnel, quality assurance, and management to meet project milestones while adhering to budgets and schedules.
  • Provide technical support during installation, testing, and operational phases to ensure smooth project transitions.
  • Evaluate existing processes and systems to recommend improvements that enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and optimize performance.
  • Keep abreast of emerging engineering technologies and methodologies to incorporate best practices into current projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Structural Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Agricultural Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.

Skills

  • Strong foundation in engineering principles coupled with hands-on experience using industry-standard software (e.g., computer-aided design, simulation, and data analysis tools).
  • Ability to analyze complex data, identify trends, and derive solutions for design or process challenges.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively document and convey technical information to varied audiences.
  • Proven ability to work well in cross-functional teams, contributing to collective problem-solving and project success.
  • Eagerness to stay updated on evolving technology, methodologies, and industry best practices.
