About the role
Equinox Hotels + Resorts is seeking an experienced Maintenance Technician to join our dynamic team. Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, you will be responsible for performing a wide range of maintenance tasks across all areas of the hotel, including guestrooms, bathrooms, public areas, and back-of-house facilities. You will also coordinate with external contractors and manage supply stocks.
Responsibilities
- Treat guests with courtesy and respect in all situations.
- Perform glass, window, and mirror repairs.
- Perform electrical repairs such as lamps, small appliances, and telephone installation/removal.
- Carry out carpentry repairs like door/window moldings, banisters, and furniture.
- Handle door and lock repairs including hinge replacements, lock replacements, and key inventory management.
- Maintain and repair hotel walls, floors, and equipment.
- Operate and maintain HVAC, laundry equipment, and kitchen appliances.
- Respond to maintenance requests from guests and report major repairs to management.
- Support other departments and guest activities as needed.
- Ensure compliance with hotel facilities procedures and respond to safety concerns.
- Perform preventive maintenance on guest rooms and public areas.
- Communicate effectively with contractors and management.
- Perform other duties as requested.
Requirements
- Satisfactory English communication skills (speaking, reading, writing).
- Attention to detail, speed, accuracy, and follow-through.
- Quick thinking and appropriate action in emergency situations.
- Flexible schedule (AM, PM, Overnight, Weekends & Holidays).
- Hotel or building maintenance experience preferred.
- Basic mechanical aptitude for operation and repair of hotel equipment.
- Knowledge of proper equipment usage and repair.
- High School graduate or equivalent vocational training.
- AED & CPR Certification.
Qualifications
- Endurance for various physical movements throughout the work area.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 100 lbs occasionally.
- Standing for long periods (up to 5 hours).
- Use of safety gear as needed (gloves, safety shoes, eye protection, hard hat, breathing apparatus).
- Ability to work in hot, cold, and wet conditions.
- One-on-one communication with guests, managers, and fellow employees.
- Observation of physical conditions and emergency situations.
- Reading and operating life safety equipment.
Skills
- General computer knowledge and ability to enter work orders and notes.
- Hotel or building maintenance experience.
- Basic mechanical aptitude.
- Knowledge of proper equipment usage and repair.
- Interpersonal skills and ability to work well with co-workers and the public.
Pay
Competitive hourly rate based on experience.
Schedule
Sunday & Monday off
Tuesday 3:00pm - 11:30pm
Wednesday 3:00pm - 11:30pm
Thursday 3:00pm - 11:30pm
Friday 11pm to 7:30am
Saturday 11pm to 7:30am
