Engineer Senior Principal II - Systems - RADAR
About the Role
We are looking for a highly skilled engineer to provide Technical & Programmatic leadership for a multidisciplinary team to build a RADAR system from the ground up. You will be leading teams in multi-domain environments, working with program leadership, customers, vendors, and other business areas to ensure on-time deliverables of hardware and software products while also guiding and mentoring a team. Updating processes and tools for the sector will be a function of this position.
What You'll Do
- Lead a multi-disciplinary engineering team, including IPTs spanning RADAR, mechanical, electrical, software, firmware, systems, and test engineering.
- Understand the interactions between different domains and guide/own trade studies to determine the best design.
- Work with customers to define CONOPS of these systems.
- Provide technical and contractual oversight of subcontract partners.
- Monitor/evaluate subcontractor performance and support supply chain in administering contracts.
- Guide programs in executing and meeting customer requirements.
- Manage schedule/scope and maintain program's ability to meet mission.
- Interface with customer and implement continuous improvements to ensure mission success.
- Support management reviews, including required LCM reporting through appropriate SBU leadership chains.
- Objectively define, execute, and report on trade studies that provide data for decision making to our customers.
- Develop metrics to evaluate concepts that represent mission utility for the customer.
- Mentor other systems engineers in mission systems engineering and architecture development.
- Prepare and give presentations to peers/management/customers.
- Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Capabilities Units and the Company.
- Perform other duties as necessary.
Working Conditions
This position requires regular in-person engagement by working on-site five days each normally scheduled week in the primary work location. Travel and local commute between company campuses and other possible non-company locations may be required. Work is performed in an office, laboratory, production floor, or cleanroom, outdoors or remote research environment. May occasionally work in production work centers where use of protective equipment and gear is required. May access other facilities in various weather conditions.
Required Education, Experience, & Skills
- BS degree or higher in Engineering or a related technical field is required plus 10 or more years related experience. Each higher-level degree, i.e., Master's Degree or Ph.D., may substitute for two years of experience. Related technical experience may be considered in lieu of education. Degree must be from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department of Education.
- A current, active Secret security clearance is required with the ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI.
- Deep understanding of RADAR design and implementation.
- Ability to foster culture of collaboration across teams (company, partner, customer).
- Define and refine internal processes and procedures in alignment with customer needs. Provide internal BAE Systems Space and Mission Systems (SMS) team training to ensure alignment with standard operating procedures.
- Customer Relationships: Extensive knowledge of missions and customers across core technologies areas. Knowledge/experience working with critical customer base, established relationships with key personnel within customer community.
- Demonstrated experience in all phases of hardware program execution, including early planning, design reviews, manufacture, assembly, integration, test, sell-off, and on-site operation.
- Demonstrated experience in systems engineering processes, including requirements development, concept of operations, requirement allocation, change management, verification, and validation.
- Superb presentation skills with documented presentation experience to senior decision making and technical audiences.
Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
- MS in Physics/Engineering Systems or a related technical field is preferred.
Pay
Full-Time Salary Range: $149603 - $254317. Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
