Responsibilities
- Perform engineering analyses of sheet metal and structural steel components of non-structural equipment to evaluate resistance to specified seismic and wind loads.
- Prepare clear, accurate, and technically sound engineering calculations, reports, and supporting documentation.
- Apply engineering principles, building codes, and internal procedures to all assigned projects.
- Support the design and analysis of test fixtures based on equipment requirements and test plans.
- Read and interpret manufacturing, structural, and customer drawings and models.
- Interface directly with customers to obtain drawings, models, and technical information required to complete evaluations.
- Clock in test plans and required data with field and testing personnel and support shake test logistics as needed.
- Follow project schedules and provide accurate status updates to management.
- Manage customer expectations through proactive and professional communication.
- Identify and communicate project risks, scope deviations, and technical concerns, and recommend corrective actions.
- Create organized and comprehensive engineering documentation, including calculations, drawings, reports, and transmittals.
- Ensure deliverables meet internal quality standards with minimal rework.
- Complete assigned tasks on schedule and in compliance with established review processes and procedures.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience performing engineering calculations and finite-element-based analysis/modeling.
- Experience with FEA software such as FEMAP, ANSYS, or equivalent.
- Experience with Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD or similar CAD tools.
- Ability to read and interpret manufacturing and structural drawings.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Project management experience.
- Understanding of engineering fundamentals, including statics and mechanics of materials.
