About the Role

The Product Safety and Reliability Engineer will assist in departmental responsibilities related to product safety and reliability for new and existing products. This role involves field investigations, legal proceedings, government/trade association matters, and customer support activities, offering broad experience in product safety and reliability.

Responsibilities

• Assist and facilitate field accident and incident investigations with inside and outside counsel, including travel (sometimes on short notice) to document inspections via photographs, videos, 3D scanning, and other methods.
• Become a trained operator to perform functional checks of JLG and Jerr-Dan products as part of incident investigations.
• Assist in research and discovery processes for litigation matters, interacting with other departments and outside entities.
• Initiate interaction with Engineering and other departments on product safety and reliability matters.
• Prepare Field Service Bulletins, Service Information, and other technical documents.
• Actively participate in reviewing new products for standards compliance.
• Review technical publications, marketing materials, and other assigned materials from a product safety perspective, recommending revisions or escalation as needed.
• Represent the company in Government/Trade Association matters (e.g., OSHA, CSA, AEM, ANSI).
• Interact with JLG customers and end users regarding machine application, safe use, repairs, and technical specifications.
• Assist with other departmental programs as assigned.
• Handle confidential and legally sensitive information with discretion, accuracy, and attention to evidence preservation and documentation quality.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, science, or a related field.
• Internship experience or 6+ months of related work experience.
• Willingness to travel up to 50%, sometimes on short notice.

Qualifications

• Education or experience focused on electro-mechanical, mechatronics, electrical, or mechanical engineering.
• Up to three years of related engineering experience (internship, co-op, or full-time).
• Ability to multitask with effective organization and communication skills.
• Strong technical writing skills to document observations clearly, objectively, and accurately.

Pay

The pay range for this position is $64,500.00 - $103,500.00 across all U.S. locations. Individual pay is determined by factors such as the scope of the role, candidate experience, education, skills, and internal equity.
