About the role

Join Danfoss Power Solutions as a Product Application Engineer and help customers develop world-class machine steering systems. This position is based near one of Danfoss' facilities in Ames, Iowa, or Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA. You will collaborate with a global team located across the United States, Denmark, and India to support customers and the sales organization in applying Danfoss steering and electro-hydraulic steering solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with customers to develop innovative steering solutions for off-highway machines.
  • Test, validate, and optimize steering systems at our Application Development Center to ensure they meet customer and application requirements.
  • Work closely with sales, product management, and engineering teams to develop customer-specific solutions.
  • Translate customer requirements into technical specifications and product recommendations.
  • Serve as a trusted technical advisor throughout the customer development process.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Agricultural, Mechatronics, or a related Engineering discipline.
  • Practical experience in hydraulics, mechatronics, electrical engineering, or related technical fields.
  • 4+ years of relevant engineering experience preferred. Recent graduates with strong internship or co-op experience in hydraulics, machinery, or vehicle systems are also encouraged to apply.
  • Experience in construction and agricultural machinery is a plus.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and spoken in English. Additional language skills are considered an advantage.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build trusted relationships with customers and internal stakeholders.
  • Capable of engaging in hands-on work that demands focus and attention to detail.
  • Ability to analyze technical problems and develop practical customer-focused solutions.
  • Self-motivated learner with strong problem-solving skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Knowledge of SAP, Teamcenter, NX & AutoCAD is a plus.
  • Willing and able to travel domestically and internationally (approximately 30 days per year).
