About the role
Northrop Grumman is seeking a Structural Analysis Engineer or Principal Structural Analysis Engineer to join our team in Palmdale, CA. This position is assigned to a 1st shift 4/10 (Monday-Thursday) or 9/80 schedule.
Responsibilities
- Analyzes damage tolerance, durability of metal and composite airframe structures.
- Reviews completed analyses, drawings, and repairs for accuracy, clarity, and completeness.
- Collaborates with other disciplines during the development of design solutions.
- Presents and explains structural issues/solutions to internal management and customer representatives.
- Maintains and improves part designs, equipment, and systems in support of production deliveries.
- Solves difficult problems thoroughly, imaginatively, practically, and consistently with program objectives.
- Evaluates as-built products for conformity to standards, procedures, and specifications.
- Experienced in Structural Analysis Methods and documentation, including hand-sheet analysis, as well as the development and manipulation of large Finite Element Models.
Requirements
- Bachelor's in Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) with 2+ years of relevant experience, or Master's Degree in STEM with 3+ years of relevant experience, or PhD Degree with no experience for a Principal Structural Analysis Engineer.
- Active In-scope (within 6 years) U.S. Government Secret Clearance and ability to obtain Program Special access within a reasonable period of time.
- Experience in Bonded Composite Structural Analysis of primary and secondary aircraft structures.
- Experience in Structural Analysis Methods and documentation, including hand-sheet analysis, as well as the development and manipulation of large Finite Element Models.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or Structural Engineering.
- 5+ years or more Aerospace structural analysis experience using NASTRAN, PATRAN, or FEMAP.
- Experience working on Special Access Programs.
- Experience working on military aircraft.
- Current in-scope DoD Secret or Top Secret Clearance.
- Experience performing DADT analysis.
Skills
- Structural Analysis Methods and documentation, including hand-sheet analysis, as well as the development and manipulation of large Finite Element Models.

Pay
Primary Level Salary Range: $91,800.00 - $137,600.00
Secondary Level Salary Range: $114,000.00 - $171,000.00
