Position Overview EcoCira is seeking a Mid-Level Engineer with three to eight years of environmental consulting experience to lead and support greenhouse gas, renewable fuels, air quality, and environmental compliance projects. This role is well suited for a consultant who can independently perform technical analyses, interpret regulations, manage project workstreams, and produce accurate, client-ready deliverables. This role offers an uncommon opportunity to work directly with Fortune 500 clients on emissions accounting, carbon credit programs, and regulatory compliance in one of the fastest-evolving areas of environmental engineering. The Mid-Level Engineer will work directly with clients and senior staff, coordinate project activities and resources, contribute to proposals and business development, and provide technical leadership to junior staff. The successful candidate will be dependable, detail-oriented, and comfortable balancing project delivery, client needs, budgets, and deadlines in a fast-paced consulting environment. Key Responsibilities • Independently manage and execute technical workstreams for air quality, greenhouse gas, renewable fuels, verification, and environmental compliance projects. • Lead project proposals and define project scope, goals, schedules, budgets, and deliverables. • Coordinate project activities and resources to maintain alignment with project timelines, budgets, and client expectations. • Meet an annual sales goal of $50,000 to $300,000 through proposal leadership, client development, and follow-on project opportunities. • Serve as a resident technical expert on Greenhouse Gas and Low Carbon/Clean Fuel regulations. • Maintain working knowledge of clean fuel programs and regulatory developments in California, Canada, Washington, Oregon, New York, and New Mexico. • Prepare and review emissions inventories for air quality criteria pollutants, air toxics, and greenhouse gases under state and federal programs. • Prepare and review emissions calculations, regulatory reports, verification workpapers, compliance analyses, and client-ready technical deliverables. • Lead client meetings, data requests, site visits, and interviews and communicate technical findings clearly. • Review work prepared by junior staff and provide technical guidance and quality-control feedback. Skills and Qualifications • 3-8 years of environmental consulting experience. • Bachelor's degree in chemical or environmental engineering; a closely related engineering degree may be considered. • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a commitment to accurate, defensible work. • Ability to independently read, interpret, and apply environmental regulations, protocols, and agency guidance. • Strong written, verbal, and client-facing communication skills. • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience working with databases and detailed datasets. • Current accreditation as a lead verifier in California Greenhouse Gas and Low Carbon Fuel Standard programs a bonus. • Experience managing project tasks, schedules, budgets, resources, and competing deadlines. • Ability to commute to the Santa Monica office periodically and on a regular cadence the first 6 months of employment.
