About the role

This position is located in the Wichita Falls Casting Operation and supports manufacturing by providing focused projects to improve throughput, reduce inventory, and lower operating expenses. The role drives labor cost reduction through cellular manufacturing and new or improved methods and equipment. Responsibilities include applying standard practices, adjusting and correlating data, documenting work, preparing technical reports, and establishing internal and external customer contacts.

Responsibilities

  • Develop manufacturing methods to produce parts that consistently meet or exceed customer requirements.
  • Continuously improve processes by enhancing methods and developing new manufacturing approaches to increase yields and reduce labor content.
  • Conceive, evaluate, and implement problem-solving activities, cost-reduction initiatives, and part/process improvements.
  • Investigate and analyze root causes of external customer escapes; develop and implement corrective action plans.
  • Provide general technical support, including collecting data and responding to customer requests.
  • Prepare quotations by developing material, scrap, and labor costs for cost modeling.
  • Support tooling development and build by attending NPI meetings and providing input on BOM, routings, and milestone plans; design manufacturing support fixtures and dies.
  • Support process development for prototypes, including creating instructions and performing data analysis.
  • Design, build, procure, troubleshoot, validate, and qualify equipment.
  • Develop cell and standard work by conducting time studies and designing cell layouts.
  • Reduce part number scrap and improve yield through data collection and analysis; attend QSI meetings.
  • Provide floor coverage and support by completing daily process walkthroughs, collecting data, and performing analysis.
  • Analyze shift labor efficiencies and effectiveness; conduct cost modeling and implement tooling changes to reduce standard labor and process time.
  • Review and disposition deviant parts; analyze scrap across all areas.

Requirements

  • BS Degree in Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States; verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
  • This position entails access to export-controlled items; employment offers are conditioned upon the ability to lawfully obtain access to such items.

Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications:

  • BS degree in Manufacturing, Industrial, Mechanical Engineering, or Manufacturing Technology.
  • Experience in Kaizen, continuous improvement, and formal problem-solving.
  • Excellent analytical, verbal, and written communication skills, including Standard Operating Procedure development.
  • Ability to perform and analyze time studies to develop standardized work and set labor standards.
  • Experience creating capacity analysis tools that capture machine cycle times, workloads, and OEE.
  • Experience implementing improved manufacturing processes, such as new equipment (including defining scope, technology research, vendor quote procurement, budgeting, installation, and project management).
  • Experience defining and implementing cell layout, plant layout, and ergonomically designed workstations.
  • Knowledge of export control regulations (commercial and/or military shipments across international borders).
  • Ability to identify and eliminate Non-Value Add (NVA) waste, reduce operation cycle times, and analyze product flow.
  • Ability to provide technical leadership and guidance to manufacturing areas through cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
  • Experience with CAD (2D and/or 3D).
