Responsibilities
- Support current process technology and implement improvements to department/plant operations based on manufacturing engineering analysis of existing operations compared to future requirements (capacity, cost reduction, safety, and/or risk avoidance opportunities).
- Prepare project justification including recommendations, make-vs-buy analysis, layout, cost impact, and schedule activities.
- Implement processes including equipment procurement, coordination of installation, process capability prove-out, training, process documentation, work standard measurement, and production start-up.
- Implement process improvements such as project management, tooling selection through implementation, N/C programming, etc.
- Provide ongoing support of processes resulting from process improvement, part changes, or changing capacities.
- Contribute to the product introduction process, including cost estimation, design for manufacturability, process investigation, schedule development, make-vs-buy analysis, and prototype manufacture.
- Review production problems as they are identified and implement solutions.
- Develop, implement, and update documentation and training.
- Contribute to initiatives by other plant functions (quality, safety, environment, production control) to improve operations.
- Develop reports, project briefings, and management presentations.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- 8-15 years of related experience.
- High School graduate or equivalent.
- Must have valid driving privileges.
- Occasional travel (0-5%).
- Occasional overnight stays (0-5%).
Preferred Qualifications
- Technical skills and training such as CNC programming, CAD layout, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T), process capability theory, and statistical process control (SPC).
- Ability to lead cross-functional teams, manage medium to large projects, and contribute to the development and implementation of strategic initiatives.
- Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills, with the ability to support and mentor Process Technicians, Supervisors, and others.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to lead discussions, meetings, and projects, and communicate across all levels of the organization.
