About the role
Huntington Ingalls Industries is actively recruiting for a full time Mechanical Engineer to support a mission at Wright Patterson Air Force Base (WPAFB).
This position is located at Wright Patterson Air Force Base (WPAFB), Ohio and is within a commutable distance from Beavercreek, Fairborn, Dayton, and Riverside.
Responsibilities
- Participate in multidisciplinary teams to define requirements, collaborate with vendors and partners, review and assess technical solutions, and oversee integration and test of complex systems
- Apply engineering principles to meet mechanical engineering needs for the facility
- Carry designs through the entire design cycle including concept development, prototyping, fabrication, and final assembly and testing
- Work with electrical and software engineers to ensure designs meet all requirements
- Seek inputs from other engineers, technicians, and other to refine and improve designs
- Document designs through detailed engineering drawings, reports, and presentations
- Work with in-house and outside shops to build prototypes and functional parts
- Design rugged enclosures for electronics, taking into account vibration, environmental, and thermal considerations
- Support mechanical aspects of specialized test infrastructure including anechoic chambers and flight motion simulators
- Participate in test events both in our facility and in the field
Requirements
- Minimum qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace or Aeronautical Engineering, 3+ years of experience with a Master’s degree, 5+ years of experience with a bachelor’s degree, or 10+ years in lieu of degree
- Experience designing parts and assemblies including engineering analysis
- Experience with FEA and CFD software such as ANSYS, SolidWorks Simulation or Flow Simulation
- Clearance: Secret clearance minimum to start - Ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI clearance with enhanced security checks
Preferred Requirements
- Master’s degree in engineering
- Experience with rugged systems design for ground or airborne systems
- Experience with digital or RF electronics packaging
- Proficiency with SolidWorks
- Experience with electrical engineering or software development including designing and troubleshooting circuits and embedded programming
- Interest or experience in any of the following areas: additive manufacturing, materials, thermodynamics/heat transfer, controls/dynamic systems, aerodynamics, or robotics
- Experience in creating requirements for and reviewing designs and drawings of facilities and construction efforts
- PCB/circuit design

Pay
Anticipated Salary Range: $89,325.00 - $92,812.00
