U.S. Citizenship is required for this position. This is a full-time, 1st shift role located at Ingalls Shipbuilding in Mississippi. Relocation assistance is not available, and this position is not eligible for telework or travel.

About the Role

Researches, plans, designs, and develops mechanical products such as instruments, controls, robots, engines, and machines. Researches, plans, designs, and develops mechanical systems including thermal hydraulic or heat transfer systems for production, transmission, measurement, and use of energy. Applies research to the planning, design, development, and testing of mechanical and/or electromechanical systems, instruments, controls, engines, and/or machines.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering from an ABET-accredited university and 2 years of experience, or Master of Science degree or above in Engineering from an ABET-accredited university and 0 years of experience.
  • Must be a current employee of Ingalls Shipbuilding.

Nice to Have

  • Strong critical thinking skills; ability to “think outside the box” to develop creative solutions to problem statements.
  • Self-starter and motivated to problem-solve.
  • Ability to field waterfront issues as they emerge.
  • Experience developing and managing budgets and schedules for individual project line items.
  • Experience using tracking/monitoring tools such as ROI, performance, cost, etc.
  • Able to manage projects with little supervision from a manager.
  • Comfortable working alone but also in a team environment where cross-collaboration is critical to executing tasks.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
