Engineer - Linux Platform
About the role
The Cloud and Connectivity organization is actively looking for an Linux Platform Engineer to join them. This role involves working in the Infrastructure Hosting Platform area, leading the strategy, engineering, and development of Linux computing capabilities for on-premise and cloud hosting. Additionally, there's an opportunity to partner with the AI/ML and High-Performance Computing (HPC) teams.
Responsibilities
- Lead the strategy, engineering, and development of Linux computing capabilities for on-premise and cloud hosting.
- Partner with the AI/ML and HPC teams.
- Direct the global Linux strategy for on-premises private cloud and public IaaS Linux services.
- Improve cloud Linux infrastructure service by improving all aspects of infrastructure availability and reliability through repeatable patterns, new architectural designs, and improvements in observability to prevent outages.
- Provide guidance and direction to global Lilly SMEs and outsourced operations for executing daily operations in this area.
Requirements
- Technical expertise and leadership to turn ideas and concepts into solutions.
- Linux, Dell SAN storage, or Cloud certifications are a plus, or the company is willing to help you develop these skills.
- Strong hands-on experience performing troubleshooting and Linux system administration with automated infrastructure availability and resiliency at enterprise scale up to AI/ML frameworks.
- Experience working with container technologies such as Docker and Apptainer/Singularity.
- Some proficiency in at least one scripting language such as Bash, Python, or equivalent.
- A consistent track record of high-quality, agile-focused, team-based solution delivery.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, working across global and diverse teams.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related technical field.
- 5+ years’ experience as a Linux OS/Platform Engineer.
- Demonstrated experience leading a global large-scale Infrastructure project.
Skills
- Technical leadership developing new enterprise-grade infrastructure solutions and leading the deployment at multiple global locations.
- Hands-on experience performing troubleshooting and Linux system administration with automated infrastructure availability and resiliency at enterprise scale up to AI/ML frameworks.
- Experience working with container technologies such as Docker and Apptainer/Singularity.
- Some proficiency in at least one scripting language such as Bash, Python, or equivalent.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, working across global and diverse teams.

Pay
The anticipated wage for this position is $64,500 - $158,400.
Schedule
This is a hybrid role located in Indianapolis, IN (relocation required). Travel is expected to be less than 5%.
