Responsibilities
- Perform a variety of engineering and design activities involving power plant upgrades and/or new power plant projects.
- Extensive experience with power plant system instrumentation and control strategies, including technical knowledge of legacy equipment and latest digital control systems design.
- Responsible for planning, organizing, and preparing modifications, and capable of independently evaluating, selecting, and using standards, techniques, procedures, and criteria for technical projects.
- Familiarity with codes and standards applicable to the nuclear power industry and working knowledge of applicable NRC regulations.
- Activities include developing specifications and/or modification packages, defining I&C design scope, developing design criteria documents, identifying and selecting control valves and instruments, developing control system functionality, developing control system architectures, and defining I/O device interfaces.
Qualifications
- Education Required: BS in electrical, mechanical, nuclear, chemical, computer or process/controls engineering from an ABET accredited engineering program that includes course work in analog and digital control systems.
- Experience Required: 18 years (minimum) of experience with at least 8 of those years with nuclear power, preferably with digital/analog controls systems is required.
- Experience with operating plant procedures, processes, and nuclear plant licensing.
- Other Required Qualifications: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, proficiency in Microsoft Office software, effective time management skills, ability to pass security and drug screening, and maintain unescorted nuclear plant access.
- PREFERRED: MS (in one of the degrees noted above in Education Required section) from an ABET accredited engineering program, experience in the nuclear power industry, and actual field experience on nuclear plant projects, Professional Engineering registration (PE).
