About the role

UCT is a fast-growing sector in the world, touching every semiconductor chip used in smartphones, smart cars, and AI devices. This role is critical as technology evolves, requiring a skilled Engineer IV to manage and oversee engineering activities, lead improvement programs, and solve customer concerns.

Responsibilities

  • Leader in strategic process development across multiple sites for new capabilities and yield improvement for UCT and its customers.
  • Supporting the conversion of small-scale processes into large-scale operations.
  • Defines process requirements for new product introductions (NPI) and line starts, including equipment needs and supporting systems.
  • Technical lead for global peers, providing guidance and resources for complex technical problems.
  • Interface with customers to develop technical roadmaps and lead projects.
  • Deploy engineering solutions, including technical problem-solving, work instruction issues, and other engineering activities.
  • Attend key meetings on new process development, customer updates, Continuous Improvement Programs (CIP), and other qualifications.
  • Drive process control systems (PCS) and Statistical Process Control (SPC) efforts for key customers.
  • Superior people management and leadership skills; proficiency in wet chemistry processing, semiconductor tools, critical cleaning technology, semiconductor processing, coating technologies, and CAD implementation.
  • High-level troubleshooting skills with a hands-on approach to solving problems.
  • Utilizes project management methods for tracking projects.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills, and ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Demonstrated understanding of production, engineering, and quality initiatives, with safety and quality practices.
  • Proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, and other systems/software to perform job duties satisfactorily.

Requirements

  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering, Metallurgy, Chemistry, or Physics, or relevant semiconductor-related degree.
  • Master’s or higher degree, or equivalent post-graduate education, preferred.
  • 6+ years of related experience in high-technology manufacturing, preferably in semiconductor capital equipment or related industries.
  • Fluency in Mandarin.

Qualifications

  • Assessing processes for relevance and adequacy of engineering equipment.
  • Reviewing existing data (including lab analyses) to identify and interpret trends and determine if additional research or information is needed.
  • Designing, installing, and commissioning new production units, monitoring modifications and upgrades, and troubleshooting existing processes.
  • Preparing reports, flow diagrams, and charts.
  • Affirming the availability of raw materials and assessing the safety and environmental impact of the plant.
  • Managing cost and time constraints of projects and tasks.
  • Maintaining processes at optimal levels to meet supply needs.
  • Ensuring processes comply with specified regulations.
  • Collaborating with quality and operations teams, as well as other engineers, to improve efficiency, output, and safety.
