Engineer, Infrastructure
About Aaru
Aaru operates at the frontier of predictive intelligence, using AI to simulate and predict human behavior at scale. By generating and deploying instances of artificial intelligence that mirror humans, called agents, Aaru simulates entire populations with unprecedented accuracy. Our partners use Aaru to refine strategic positioning, identify and understand high‑value audiences, validate concepts and messaging before launch, optimize pricing decisions, and build a continuously richer understanding of their customers through simulation. We provide organizations with invaluable foresight, empowering them to anticipate outcomes and proactively make the right decisions at the right time, every time. We're a small, dedicated, mission‑driven team that values ownership, trust, and operating without bureaucratic friction.
About the Role
As an infrastructure engineer at Aaru, you will build the systems that enable our simulations to run faster, more reliably, and at greater scale. You will work across compute, networking, data pipelines, and developer tooling to remove bottlenecks from Aaru's core engineering and research workflows.
Responsibilities
- Design and build low‑latency, high‑throughput infrastructure for large‑scale simulations
- Improve the reliability and performance of data ingestion and computation pipelines
- Identify system bottlenecks across compute, networking, storage, and orchestration
- Build tools and abstractions that help engineering and research teams move faster
- Productionize experimental research workflows into reliable, repeatable infrastructure
- Own infrastructure decisions from architecture through implementation and operation
Requirements
- Built infrastructure, frameworks, or internal platforms for fast‑growing engineering teams
- Deep experience debugging performance and reliability issues in distributed systems
- Comfortable working close to networking, storage, compute, and cloud primitives
- Helped transition research or experimental systems into production
- Care about developer experience and build systems that other engineers want to use
- Comfortable with strongly typed languages or languages with algebraic type systems
- Experience with long‑running computational pipelines (strong candidate)
- Strong knowledge of networking protocols such as HTTP, TLS, TCP, or related systems (strong candidate)
- Experience designing infrastructure for high‑scale data or machine learning workloads (strong candidate)
- A track record of finding and eliminating bottlenecks in complex systems (strong candidate)
