Responsibilities
- Prepare design deliverables for land development projects, including grading, drainage, and utility layouts.
- Analyze site constraints and evaluate design alternatives to meet client objectives and jurisdictional requirements.
- Develop permitting support materials and coordinate responses required for land development approvals.
- Perform engineering planning, design, and analysis tasks in accordance with applicable codes, standards, and regulations, producing work that requires minimal revision.
- Prepare engineering calculations and technical deliverables such as memoranda, reports, drawings, specifications, and cost estimates, clearly documenting assumptions and design decisions.
- Evaluate and compare design alternatives, apply sound engineering judgment, and recommend appropriate solutions to support project objectives.
- Collaborate with project managers, multidisciplinary teams, and external stakeholders to support project delivery, with guidance as appropriate.
- Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior engineers and designers to support team development and quality outcomes.
- Participate in quality control and quality assurance practices to support accuracy, consistency, and compliance with standards.
- Manage assigned tasks independently, meet deadlines, and demonstrate accountability for assigned portions of a project.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field from an ABET-accredited program.
- Minimum of 2 years of professional engineering experience performing progressively responsible engineering work.
- Engineer-in-Training (EIT/EI) certification.
- Working knowledge of engineering principles, design standards, and applicable codes and regulations relevant to assigned service areas.
- Ability to apply established engineering practices and exercise sound judgment on moderately complex assignments.
- Proficiency with relevant engineering software and tools.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, clients, and external agencies.
- Ability to manage assigned tasks, meet deadlines, and work under general supervision.
- Willingness to work primarily in an office environment with periodic field work, site visits, meetings, or agency coordination as required.
- Ability to work Monday – Friday, 8am – 5pm with overtime as needed.
