As an entry-level engineer, you'll work alongside experienced professionals on meaningful projects from planning and design through construction. You'll gain hands-on experience, receive mentorship from industry experts, and develop the technical and professional skills needed to become a successful engineer.

Practice areas

  • Water – drinking treatment and distribution
  • Wastewater – treatment, modeling, and reuse
  • Water Resources – surface water, stormwater management, and flood risk mitigation
  • Rural Water – water supply, system development/regionalization

Responsibilities

  • Assist project managers with the development and preparation of plans, specifications, and construction cost estimates
  • Assist project managers in the design and solution of client projects
  • Perform construction observation and administration on water related projects
  • Assist in the preparation of technical reports, memorandums, and presentations
  • Work with Contractors to ensure the project document requirements, process, schedule, and related contractual obligations are understood by Contractors performing work for Owner

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental, Civil, Chemical Engineering or related field
  • Fundamentals in Engineering certified or ability to obtain
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to travel as required
  • All applicants must be able to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements (if selected) which may include any/all of the following: criminal/civil background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search, in compliance with any applicable laws and regulations

Physical requirements

  • Ability to walk up to 3 miles on uneven terrain
  • Ability to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time
  • Occasionally climb, stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and twist
  • Occasionally lift, carry, push, and pull light to moderate amounts of weight
  • May require lifting and carrying up to 20 pounds, with rare lifting of up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to inspect equipment, structures, or materials to identify causes of errors or defects
  • May be required to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) including flame-resistant clothing, hard hat, and protective footwear
  • May require occasional evenings and weekends with overtime expectations varying with workload
  • May be required to travel to off-site locations including occasional overnight stays out of town
