Engineer in Training
About the role
The position involves shadowing current district engineers to gain necessary hands-on training, familiarize with district equipment/assets, and acclimate to the daily work schedule. The goal is to prepare candidates for becoming fully licensed Building Engineers with a water tenders boiler license.
Responsibilities
- Shadow current district engineers to acquire required hours of hands-on training
- Become familiar with district equipment/assets
- Acclimate to the day-to-day work schedule
- Receive training on oversight of custodians, district policy, and other functions outside of day-to-day operations
- Attend and review training manuals
- Participate in additional trainings such as fire safety, diversity, inclusion, and sensitivity, slips, trips, and falls, bloodborne and airborne pathogens, hazard communications/SDS, preventing discrimination and harassment, employment law, microaggressions in the workplace, unconscious bias, violence in the workplace, and sexual harassment
- Attend required courses including the basic boiler class through Local 95 at the Pittsburg office and HVAC and Electrical classes through the national organization located in Crosby Texas or Pittsburg office
Qualifications
- Knowledge of first aid and emergency procedures
- Basic mechanical, technical equipment and applications knowledge relevant to specific sites and job functions
- Proficiency in the use of hand tools, custodial equipment, cleaning materials and procedures
- 2+ years satisfactory EPS evaluations
Requirements
- Must attend the basic boiler class through Local 95 at the Pittsburg office
- Must attend HVAC and Electrical classes through the national organization located in Crosby Texas or Pittsburg office

Pay
Salary is in accordance with Local No. 95 Contract.
Schedule
Shifts are traveling, with 1st Engineers in training spending one (1) quarter at one of the District School Buildings. The rotation of which buildings will be determined prior to placement.
