Responsibilities

  • Cooksheet metal tooling process and ancillary processes with cradle to grave management of tooling assets.
  • Ensure tooling meets desired process capability while providing cost-effective manufacturing processes.
  • Plan introduction of new products in the cooking factories with a focus in the tooling/stamping area.
  • Interface with the Design Engineering department to ensure designs are suitable for full-scale economic production.
  • Interpret computer-generated stamping simulations and integrate into tooling design.
  • Write specifications, solicit quotations, plan construction, run-off, and acceptance of sheet metal forming/punching tools.
  • Provide cost estimates for new part introduction to aid in Make or Buy sourcing activities.
  • Provide process support for metal finishing and part washing.
  • Specify and prepare capital appropriations for process supporting equipment.
  • Conceptualize and implement factory cost reduction projects for labor, material, and overhead savings.
  • Continuously improve stamping process through quality methods.
  • Develop and maintain supporting process documentation.
  • Manage smooth incorporation of engineering changes into production.
  • Design and establish work instructions per ISO requirements.
  • Maintain data in automated systems on the production floor and ensure availability of parameters for engineering changes.
  • Use data analysis/SPC to drive improvements.
  • Incorporate lean manufacturing principles in all areas of responsibility.
  • Create and evaluate a value stream map and design.
  • Design and develop new equipment and fixturing to improve manufacturing operations.
  • Lead continuous improvement projects within factory.
  • Study product requirements, design process/mathematical models to meet requirements and implement process changes.
  • Handle research innovative process technology, prepare business cases for implementation and execute plans.
  • Perform business analysis including cost-benefit analysis for new product launches, process, and engineering changes using principles of engineering economics.
  • Perform work independently with a high degree of latitude.
  • Handle the most complex issues and problems and refer only the most complex issues to higher-level staff.
  • Analyze, discuss, and solve complex engineering problems with sub-contractors and suppliers to avoid supply shortages and factory shutdowns.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5 years of experience as a Tooling Engineer or occupation involving tool design and implementation with drawings and CAD software.
  • Experience with Manufacturing Processes.
  • Experience with AutoCAD or other CAD applications (SPC, Plant Layout, Assembly Line Balancing, or Ergonomics).
  • Experience with Tooling (design, troubleshooting, and maintenance).
  • Experience with Class A surface - stainless steel forming and drawing.
  • Experience with ACAD and MS Office software.
  • Experience with 3D CAD software (Unigraphics).
  • Experience with Measuring Equipment and devices.
  • Experience with Software simulation and implementation of results into design.

Wage Range

$107,120 - $152,878
