Engineer III / Senior - Electrical Controls

APS Generation Non-Nuclear is growing and looking for a motivated, Professional Engineer III / Senior with extensive electrical controls system design and field experience. This role will heavily leverage your technical expertise to ensure designs produced for APS Generating plants meet expectations for safety, quality, performance, and engineering design standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in an engineering discipline or related applied science discipline (Materials Science/Metallurgy, Physics, Chemistry, Math, Nuclear, Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, Electronics, Computer Science, Environmental, Chemical, Architectural, Structural) from an ABET accredited institution
  • Engineer III: 5 years of engineering-related experience
  • Engineer Senior: 8 years of engineering-related experience
  • Note: A four-year bachelor of Engineering Technology degree is not considered an automatic equivalent for a B.S. degree in Engineering; curriculum review required

Preferred Qualifications

  • Problem analysis and resolution techniques
  • Knowledge of applicable codes, standards, practices, methods, and safety standards in electrical controls engineering
  • Experience in the utility industry
  • Professional Engineer (PE) licensure

Responsibilities

  • Develop and apply unique, creative solutions to a broad range of technical issues and problems
  • Prepare complex engineering plans, designs, analysis, specifications, cost estimates, evaluations, studies, technical reviews, investigations, and verifications
  • Ensure engineering work is technically sound, cost-effective, and compliant with standards, codes, and regulations
  • Review and check analysis, evaluations, and investigations performed by others
  • Integrate interrelated elements of complex, broad-scope projects requiring interpretation or modification of guidelines
  • Comply with design, regulatory, operating, and maintenance requirements
  • Identify potential schedule or quality issues and initiate corrective action
  • Interface with customers and other departments to ensure project objectives, budget, and schedule meet requirements
  • Present technical data, design results, and project approaches to management, colleagues, and customers
  • Provide technical guidance, leadership, and support to less experienced engineers
  • Assist in problem-solving by critically challenging assumptions and decisions to optimize solutions
  • Develop long-range strategies for significant site problems and leverage industry resources to resolve key technical issues
  • Interface with outside agencies and regulatory authorities as needed
  • Plan and coordinate large-scale engineering projects or multiple medium-scale projects, including feasibility studies, staffing, cost estimates, and resource requirements
  • Monitor projects and recommend modifications to increase operating efficiency
  • Review design and documentation of complex projects for compliance with specifications and regulatory requirements
  • Develop, negotiate, and manage contracts and contract revisions
  • Research new developments and technology, and recommend feasibility for company operations
