Engineer III, Flight Dynamics Analyst

About the role
We are seeking a Flight Dynamics Analyst for a Space Development Agency (SDA) project. In this role, you’ll participate in monitoring and controlling ground systems at the Operations Centers in Grand Forks, ND or Huntsville, AL. You will work 12-hour shifts as part of a 24-hour, multi-satellite operations team. This position requires an active or current Secret Security Clearance or the ability to obtain one (a U.S. Security Clearance active in the past 24 months is considered active).
Responsibilities
- Perform near real-time constellation position trending, monitoring, and management
- Develop and validate all station-keeping maneuvers to maintain tight pointing and crosslink requirements
- Assist in the execution of maneuver planning for ascent, collision avoidance, and cross-track maneuvers
- Conduct real-time conjunction analysis to assess collision risk and execute mitigation efforts
- Ensure the quality and timely generation of predictive orbital events to support other domains
- Take an active role in the development and maintenance of Flight Dynamics procedures
- Continuously improve tools and processes for streamlined operations
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering or related field
- 5+ years of directly applicable experience working with satellites or in the space field
- Proficient with standard Microsoft Office/engineering tools (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Ability to work in a high-paced operational environment, often providing off-hours support
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to present products, deliverables, analyses, or issues confidently
- Analytical mindset with the ability to understand problems and think critically to make decisions
- Comfortable managing upward, including proactive communication and asking for help when needed
- Ability to establish valuable relationships and prioritize key tasks with a strong sense of ownership
- Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and complete them on time with minimal errors
- Must be a U.S. Citizen
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s Degree in Aerospace Engineering
- General knowledge working in a Linux operating system
- Familiarity with software development and programming skills
- General understanding of satellite operations, orbit dynamics, and satellite subsystems
Schedule
- 12-hour shifts in a 24-hour, multi-satellite operations environment
Work Environment
This position is based in the operations center and is largely sedentary, involving sitting at a computer for extended periods. The role uses basic office equipment such as a phone, computer, keyboard, mouse, and printer. Occasional standing, walking, and climbing stairs may be required for in-person meetings.
Pay
Base Pay Range: $91,000 - $120,000 USD. Actual compensation will be determined based on experience and other factors. This range represents an estimate at the time of posting.
