About the Role

Types of water resources projects include:

  • Riverine system hydraulics & hydrology (H&H)
  • Floodplain analysis, mapping, and flood mitigation
  • Scour modeling
  • Watershed planning and studies
  • Roadway topline drainage system analysis and design
  • Stormwater management system design
  • Erosion and sediment control
  • Stream restoration analysis and design
  • Green infrastructure design

Responsibilities

  • Deliver world-class solutions to our public/private sector water resources customers.
  • Proactively manage a wide range of water resource projects in accordance with scope, schedule, and budget set by the Project Manager.
  • Provide excellent client services with a focus on quality and timeliness.
  • Assist with leadership of project tasks and report to a Senior Project Manager.
  • Collaborate with design team members, project engineers, design technicians, drafters, surveyors, contractors, and inspectors.
  • Provide office and site visit support for assigned and prospective projects.
  • Develop documentation, preliminary modeling, analysis, and due diligence for project pursuits.
  • Perform modeling of complex riverine systems, watersheds, and storm sewer networks, and analyze improvement alternatives.
  • Design stormwater control BMPs and produce engineering drawings with SCMs for culverts, bridges, and dams.
  • Prepare clear drainage reports and hydraulic memoranda documenting analysis, findings, and recommendations.
  • Develop civil engineering plans using Autodesk Civil3D, MicroStation/ORD, GeoPak, and GIS.
  • Participate in client meetings and coordination for ongoing projects and pursuits.
  • Act as a resource for colleagues with less experience.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Environmental, or related engineering field.
  • Two (2) to four (4) years of experience in water resources engineering.
  • Experience with CAD, MicroStation/ORD, ArcPro, and other ESRI software.
  • Floodplain analysis utilizing HEC-RAS (1D) software.
  • Strong knowledge of hydrologic and hydraulic computational methodologies and tools.
  • Project experience related to hydraulic analysis of riverine systems and culvert/bridge stream crossings.
  • Working familiarity with FEMA procedures, regulations, and coordination, including map revisions and no-rise certifications.
  • Experience performing field work in support of water resources projects.
  • Strong organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and independently with attention to detail.
  • Capability to coordinate and manage simultaneous tasks.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Engineer in Training (EIT) certification.
  • Analysis and design of closed storm sewer systems using ORD Drainage software.
  • 2-dimensional stream system modeling using HEC-RAS 2D or SMS w/ SRH-2D.
  • Hydrologic analysis using HEC-HMS software.
  • Watershed/Drainage Basin modeling using EPA SWMM or PCSWMM.
