Engineer II – Manufacturing

About the Role

Join the Manufacturing & Test Operations (MTO) group at BAE Systems in Westminster, Colorado, where we develop and manufacture state-of-the-art RF and sensor technologies. This role supports our mission to enable uniformed service members to operate safely and return home. As a Development Manufacturing Engineer, you will collaborate with internal teams, contract manufacturers, and customers to drive efficiency, resiliency, and growth within our expanding product portfolio. The Operations Strategic Capabilities Unit plays a key role in strategic capital investments, industrial operations, supply chain management, manufacturing, test operations, and facilities management.

Responsibilities

• Provide hands-on manufacturing engineering support for products and processes within a development value stream.
• Modify, refine, and provide input to ensure design producibility.
• Analyze data, evaluate, and implement improvements to meet contract, quality, and schedule requirements.
• Perform design reviews of drawings, procedures, and engineering orders for completeness.
• Implement engineering changes and incorporate corrective actions.
• Contribute to the generation of manufacturing schedules that meet program schedule milestones.
• Follow AS6500 principles to produce products and processes that meet or exceed requirements.
• Actively participate in Manufacturing Readiness Level (MRL) Assessments.
• Resolve issues independently or in a team environment using data-based root cause analysis and apply firm corrective actions.
• Maintain manufacturing procedures, processes, records, and reports in alignment with the Quality Management System (QMS) and contract requirements.
• Develop and maintain manufacturing build instructions.
• Maintain and control production tooling in accordance with QMS requirements; design or communicate tool design needs to tool design engineers.
• Contribute to the collection and analysis of technical data in support of product performance.
• Support status meetings with program managers and customers.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Design, Development/Test Engineering, Quality Assurance, Supply Chain Management, Process Labs, and outside suppliers.
• Maintain excellent rapport with internal and external customers.
• Utilize in-house business systems, including Manufacturing Execution System, shop floor control, internal status reporting, and product data management systems.
• Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, Strategic Business Units, Strategic Capabilities Units, and the company.
• Interact appropriately to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
• Perform other duties as necessary.

Work Environment

• On-site work required five days per week at the primary Westminster, Colorado location.
• Travel and local commute between company campuses and other non-company locations may be required.
• Work is performed in an office, laboratory, production floor, cleanroom, outdoors, or remote research environment.
• May occasionally work in production work centers where use of protective equipment and gear is required.
• May access other facilities in various weather conditions.

Requirements

• BS degree or higher in Engineering or a related technical field, plus 2 or more years of related experience. Each higher-level degree (Master’s or Ph.D.) may substitute for two years of experience. Related technical experience may be considered in lieu of education. Degree must be from an accredited institution recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education or U.S. Department of Education.
• Experience with Design for Manufacturing (DFM) principles.
• Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
• Ability to organize information, manage tasks, and prioritize time for efficient performance.
• Knowledge of product and process development.
• A DoD Interim Secret clearance is required to start and must be maintained. Applicants must be willing and eligible for submission and able to maintain the applicable clearance/access, depending on program requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in the aerospace industry.
• RF or Circuit Card Assembly (CCA) fabrication knowledge or experience.
• Experience in moving product into production.
• Knowledge or experience in highly regulated manufacturing industries.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to present to diverse audiences.
• Complementary skills such as programming languages, CAD, and other manufacturing tools.

Pay

Full-Time Salary Range: $79,365 – $134,921. Individual salaries are determined by factors including business considerations, local market conditions, internal equity, and candidate qualifications such as skills, education, and experience.
