Engineer I - Quality
About the Role
The Engineer I position will perform quality assurance tasks in the Tactical Solutions business unit, supporting overall individual component to system level manufacturing, integration, and test for all phases, systems, programs, and/or products in the production facility. The Operations Strategic Capabilities Unit enables efficient business and program execution through strategic capital investments, industrial operations, supply chain efficiency, state-of-the-art manufacturing and test operations, and facilities management.
Responsibilities
- Work as part of a team during all phases of the program lifecycle, supporting execution activities under guidance.
- Participate in resolving routine quality issues, documenting findings, and contributing to the reduction of recurring issues.
- Engage in process improvement activities.
- Support Statistical Process Control (SPC) activities, including implementing and maintaining control charts and assisting programs with database creation and tool setup.
- Review First Article Inspections (FAI) and ensure compliance with customer and regulatory requirements.
- Participate in audits and assessments to ensure ongoing compliance.
- Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, Strategic Business Units, Strategic Capabilities Units, and the company.
- Interact appropriately with others to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
- Perform other duties as necessary.
Work Environment
- On-site work required five days per week at the primary work location.
- Travel and local commute between company campuses and other non-company locations may be required.
- Work is performed in an office, laboratory, production floor, cleanroom, outdoors, or remote research environment.
- May occasionally work in production work centers where use of protective equipment and gear is required.
- May access other facilities in various weather conditions.
Requirements
- BS degree or higher in Engineering or a related technical field is required. Each higher-level degree (Master’s or Ph.D.) may substitute for two years of experience. Related technical experience may be considered in lieu of education. Degree must be from an accredited institution recognized by the US Secretary of Education or US Department of Education.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work in and contribute to a cross-functional team environment.
- Demonstrated ability to learn aerospace and defense industry and government specifications and standards guiding hardware design, build, and test.
- Demonstrated ability to learn Quality Engineering (QE) principles, tools, methods, and standards.
- Willingness to take initiative, complete tasks in a timely manner, and strong time management and organizational skills.
A security clearance or access with Polygraph is not required to be eligible for this position. However, the applicant must be willing and eligible for submission, depending on program requirements, after an offer is accepted and must be able to maintain the applicable clearance/access.
Pay
Full-Time Salary Range: $64,926 – $110,374. Individual salaries are determined by factors including business considerations, local market conditions, internal equity, and candidate qualifications such as skills, education, and experience.
