Engineer I - Mechanical (NDT)

Responsibilities

• Identify commercially available technologies that may be tested and tailored to existing Navy shipbuilding specifications or used to develop new Navy shipbuilding specification requirements
• Integrate with existing team of approximately five (5) NDT Engineers and support existing project tasking
• Develop R&D project proposals, test plans, and schedules
• Interface with and lead cross-functional teams of Engineers, NDT Level III Examiners, and submarine construction subject matter experts (SMEs)
• Provide guidance to team-members and Electric Boat Management regarding NDT New Technology projects
• Participate in Electric Boat Senior Management briefs regarding NDT New Technology implementation strategies
• Interface with Electric Boat’s Navy customer and gain alignment on project scope, funding, testing, and shipyard implementation strategies

Qualifications

• Minimum Requirements: Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Physics, Data Science or equivalent Engineering degree, 0-5 years of post graduate engineering experience performing MT, PT, UT, RT, or CR inspections
• Preferred Requirements: Master of Science or Ph.D. degree with demonstrated research focus related to NDT, 2+ years of professional experience in a related role, Research & development experience, Active or previous NDT Level II or III certifications, Previous mentoring, leadership or supervisory experience, Experience in the Naval shipbuilding or regulatory market space, Knowledge of ultrasonic, radiographic or other NDT technologies, Experience interfacing with NAVSEA
