About the role
Under supervision, the incumbent receives "on-the-job" training in various phases of engineering through specific assignments under close supervision. Tasks are routine in nature to provide experience and familiarization with the staff, engineering methods, practices, and programs of the company. Work is reviewed for accuracy, adequacy, and conformance with prescribed procedures.
Responsibilities
- Provide technical support for plant operations.
- Work in a team environment with operations, maintenance, and engineering to maintain and troubleshoot problems as well as propose applications for the process units.
- Work directly with drafting and other engineers on small project scopes to receive appropriate design and size of equipment needed.
- Assist in the planning and execution of unit shutdowns and startups.
- Administer plant performance test runs as needed, provide any operational data or drawings required to vendors or maintenance if needed.
- Provide project engineering and management for capital and expense projects as assigned.
- Research and monitor upcoming technological changes to improve future strategies within the plant.
- Consistently keep supervisor advised of progress via oral and weekly written reports.
- Exposure to work near potentially volatile and combustible materials and chemicals.

- Aid optimizing the process, design, and development of projects.
- Align performance with safety, environmental compliance, reliability, and operating excellence.
- Ensure plant piping and equipment specifications are being met.
- Facilitate the proper planning and bidding of job packages.
- Develop levels of competence and trust so others seek guidance.
- Complete assigned projects within deadlines and budgets.
- Adhere to all company policies and procedures.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering required.
- 0-2 years of relevant work experience required.
- College engineering internship preferred; oil & gas or chemical processing internship highly desirable.
- Desire to work in a manufacturing environment and to address mechanical issues.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated knowledge of economic principles, project management, and customer service.
- Demonstrated knowledge of mechanical principles, troubleshooting, and collaborative skills.
- Demonstrated knowledge of MS Office software packages, including Excel.
- Demonstrated competencies in priority setting and organizational agility.
- Demonstrated competencies in developing peer relations, participating as a team member, and leading others.
- Ability to analyze, reason, and solve increasingly complex problems.
- Ability to adjust to frequent change and adjust schedule as needed to reach departmental and plant goals.
- Fluent in English, oral and written.
