About the Role
Conduct testing of off-road machine products, including both field and lab testing, to determine the functionality, durability, and reliability of prototype designs.
Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive product testing of off-road equipment in order to accurately quantify product performance and durability.
- Utilize state-of-the-art hardware and data analysis tools to produce reliable and accurate test data.
- Write clear, comprehensive, and timely technical data reports which present factual information, recommendations, and conclusions resulting from thorough analysis of acquired test data.
- Possess and maintain a working knowledge of all applicable data acquisition systems, measurement transducers, and related instrumentation, and be able to specify and use these devices to consistently compile accurate and useful engineering test data.
- Maintain open communications with all internal and external customers and suppliers.
- Maintain knowledge and understanding of current standard test methods as published by SAE, ASTM, ISO, and Komatsu Engineering Standards in order to provide accurate and useful test data.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or equivalent experience.
- Working knowledge of mechanical testing and evaluation.
- Working knowledge of measurement techniques and data acquisition systems, and data analysis.
- Demonstrated good judgment and communication skills.
- Experience with vehicle and/or structural testing and evaluation is desired.
- Experience with construction, forestry, mining, or agricultural equipment is a plus.
- Familiarity with structural, mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems utilized on off-road machines is a plus.
Physical Requirements
- Sufficient ordinary ambulatory skills to visit other locations.
- Ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and manipulate (lift, carry, move) light to medium weights of 1-10 pounds.
- Good hand-eye coordination, arm, hand, and finger dexterity, including ability to grasp, and visual acuity to use a keyboard, operate equipment, and read application information.
- Frequently required to sit, reach with hands and arms, talk, and hear.
Up to 30% travel may be required.
