Engineer I

About the role

CHA Consulting, Inc. is seeking an Engineer I to join our Highway & Rail Team in Columbia, SC.

Responsibilities

• Aid in the planning, design, and development of highway and rail transportation projects
• Support senior engineers in preparing technical reports, design calculations, specifications, contract documents, and cost estimates
• Apply engineering principles, industry standards, and regulatory requirements to develop transportation solutions that enhance mobility and safety
• Participate in field visits and site assessments to gain hands-on experience and develop a deeper understanding of transportation design and construction practices

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering required
• No experience required; however, prior internships and/or relevant coursework are preferred
• Strong theoretical foundation and familiarity with engineering software (Revit, AutoCAD, MicroStation, etc.)
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office
• Excellent communication skills and a desire to work in a collaborative team
• Participation in professional engineering society/organization preferred
• Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification a plus

Benefits

Salary Range: $73,000 - $80,000

Salary is based on a variety of factors, including, but not limited to, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, training, and fair market evaluation based on industry standards.
