Engineer (Hotel Maintenance)

About the role

This position involves performing preventative and repair maintenance work at The Whiteface Lodge Resort to ensure the hotel meets established quality and sustainability standards while providing a warm and friendly service to guests.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out room inspections and identify repair needs.
  • Install or repair sheetrock and other wall coverings.
  • Paint designated areas and items.
  • Install and replace basic electrical fixtures, replace light switches, receptacles, light bulbs and fixtures.
  • Repair furniture.
  • Install, replace and program televisions.
  • Perform minor plumbing functions.
  • Replace and repair heating and cooling pumps as well as preventative maintenance on units.
  • Trace and repair all types of water lines.
  • Troubleshoot and repair kitchen equipment.
  • Maintain repair and preventive maintenance records.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal codes.
  • Work towards increasing departmental and overall guest satisfaction.
  • Assist as a bell attendant during staffing shortages or peak periods.
  • Follow Service Recovery Guidelines.
  • Practice safe work habits, wear protective safety equipment, and comply with MSDS and OSHA standards.
  • Ensure overall guest satisfaction.
  • Perform other duties as requested by management.

Requirements

  • A high school diploma and trade school course work in a related field is preferred.
  • Previous engineer/maintenance experience or equivalent training is required.

Qualifications

  • Ability to follow local, state, and federal codes.
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Physical ability to perform tasks such as standing for extended periods, walking, pushing, lifting up to 50 pounds, bending, reaching, kneeling, stooping, crawling, and climbing.

Skills

  • Knowledge of building codes and regulations.
  • Proficiency in using hand tools and power tools.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and repair various household appliances and equipment.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.

Pay

$22.00 to $25.00 per hour

Schedule

Work schedule varies and may include working on holidays and weekends and alternate shifts.
