About the role

At Hyundai, we’re focused on developing and enhancing the quality, performance, and customer satisfaction of our vehicles, particularly in relation to Engine Management Systems. This role involves continuous development of tools for diagnosing and repairing these systems in the field.

Responsibilities

  • Focus on product quality, performance, and customer satisfaction of New and Current vehicles.
  • Lead the development of tools required to diagnose and repair vehicles related to Engine Management Systems, including Engine Control Units, Emission Control Systems, Battery and Engine Electrical Systems.
  • Validate product complaints, analyze warranty parts, and report new and existing systematic product problems.
  • Develop countermeasures for both field repairs and production, coordinating with HMC and affiliated groups.
  • Timely distribute all related Technical Service Bulletins, including Recall Campaigns.
  • Ensure the highest rankings in CSI(FRFT), CR, VDS, IQS, and HVR third-party surveys related to the vehicle systems under your responsibility.
  • Coordinate the collection and analysis of warranty return parts, dealer visits, and on-car investigations to determine the cause of failures and initiate corrective action.
  • Maintain ongoing monitoring of warranty and techline databases, customer surveys, warranty parts analyses, and field service engineering reports to detect new systematic product issues and assess the effectiveness of countermeasures.
  • Manage the development of field repair solutions and request production changes as necessary. Follow up on Quality Information Reports in the CCC website system to ensure timely action.
  • Timely distribution of all Technical Service Bulletins (including Recall Campaigns) to Hyundai/Genesis dealers.
  • Support successful launches of new models and monitor the Launch Quality Monitoring Process.
  • Conduct Labor Time Studies (LTS) on new models to ensure fair/adequate repair times and procedures for dealers and HMC/HMMA.
  • Develop, manage, and coordinate the Monthly Quality Report each month.
  • Work closely with various groups throughout the organization to communicate and interchange technical and service-related issues and resolutions.
  • Monitor and clearly identify J.D. Power IQS/VDS/CSI (FRFT) and CR Reliability (Durability) surveys liabilities and develop improvement and validation plans accordingly.
  • Evaluate, troubleshoot, and diagnose vehicle installed field failure parts (improved QIR problem definition).
  • Oversee the development of required Special Service Tools to assist Dealers with vehicle repairs.
  • Develop, support, and conduct competitor benchmarking and customer preference studies.
  • Conduct other tasks related to the Purpose of this Position as assigned or requested.
  • Issue Quality Information Reports (QIR).
  • Issue Technical Service Bulletins (TSB).
  • Issue Dealer Communication System messages (DCS).
  • Provide technical support/direction to field staff, Techline, and various internal HMA/GMA groups.

Requirements

  • High school graduate.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Automotive Engineering or related science.
  • Master’s degree in Automotive Engineering, or related science, preferred.
  • Five or more years of professional experience.
  • Automotive Retail and Wholesale experience preferred.
  • Proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access.
  • Thorough automotive technical knowledge required.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong analytical/problem-solving ability.
  • Strong data management/general and statistical analysis/reporting skills.
  • Well-organized yet flexible to accomplish objectives that are often subject to change.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and direction.

Qualifications

  • Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
  • Valid state driver’s license and good driving record.
  • Flexible schedule to accommodate occasional weekends and evenings.
  • Ability to lift and carry 35 lbs.

  • Compensation Range: $80,000 - $120,000 annual base salary.
