Engineer eMotor
About the Role
We are looking for talented team members to join a dynamic team focused on pushing boundaries and innovating in the transformation from traditional powertrains to eMobility. The eMotor Design Engineer will be part of development projects for electric machines for electric and hybrid vehicles, responsible for the detailed design and application of electric motors for propulsion.
The role is open to both intermediate and senior-level engineers. Intermediate engineers will work independently with limited supervision, while senior engineers will perform complex engineering tasks, mentor less experienced team members, and serve as a technical authority.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, analyze, and test electric motors for electric traction drives (voltage < 1000V, current < 900A) for eDrive applications.
- Analyze, simulate, and implement customer requirements (load specifications) and normative specifications.
- Define and coordinate motor architecture, motor sensors, and connection technology (e.g., phase connections).
- Coordinate technical interfaces for eMotor components and create requirements and architecture specifications.
- Define requirements and create specification sheets for eMotor components, coordinating with suppliers.
- Support project managers and program teams for eMotor applications, including new business quotations.
- Work closely with customers and partners on all aspects of eMotor vehicle application and testing.
- Collaborate with system development, electronics development, construction, testing, suppliers, and scientific institutes.
- Drive the development of new technologies to improve quality, efficiency, and reduce cost.
- Develop and maintain responsive and cooperative working relationships with internal and external customers.
- Mentor and guide less experienced team members (Senior Engineer responsibility).
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering required; Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or similar preferred.
- 5-10 years of experience in electric motor design.
- Good knowledge of electrical machine design and understanding of power electronics and electric drive technology.
- Experience with design, simulation, and requirements management tools (e.g., CATIA V5, PTC Integrity, DOORS, Matlab/Simulink).
- Experience with FE tools for electromagnetic design, preferably ANSYS RMxprt, ANSYS Maxwell 2D/3D, and Motor-CAD.
- High level of analytical ability and understanding of engineering theory and design principles.
