About the role
Applies electrical, electronic and mechanical principles to components and systems, including assembly, analysis, and documentation of results; construction of developmental assemblies, sub-assemblies and components; and quality testing. Supports and participates in the design, test, modification, fabrication and assembly of prototype electromechanical systems.
Responsibilities
- Supports improvements to the processes used for determining and tracking obsolete material
- Determines prioritization of replacement efforts
- Researches information needed to support engineering material reviews
- Provides technical review of resolutions for obsolete material
- Supports development of technical documents for ordering requirements for applicable resolutions
- Reviews technical responses to Navy supply system Liaison Action Requests (LARs) concerning material obsolescence
- Provides oversight and guidance to engineers, designers, and logistics support personnel who are performing work to determine resolutions for material shortages
Requirements
- Must have a Bachelor's Degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program
- Must have 5 years of relevant exempt experience; Master’s Degree and 3 years of relevant professional experience; Ph.D. and 0 years of experience
- Nice to have experience with CVN68 Class Propulsion and Reactor plant components
- Nice to have familiarity with Navy supply system (NSNs, APLs)
- Nice to have understanding of Navy supply system ordering requirements, material specifications, manuals and qualification requirements for CVN68 Class Propulsion and Reactor Plant replacement components
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to discuss technical issues with technical and non-technical department personnel and suppliers are a must
