Engineer Diver (Structural Focus) – Entry / Junior Level

About the role

Moffatt & Nichol specializes in large complex waterfront infrastructure projects and is recognized as one of the worldwide leaders in this field. We are actively seeking a Civil/Structural Engineer with commercial diving certification and experience to perform structural inspections both above and below water. As part of our Baltimore, MD dive team, you will be working with a professional engineering inspection team that provides consulting services to clients primarily in the Baltimore area and infrequent overnight travel is required.

Responsibilities

• Performs site investigations of marine structures, bridges, and other infrastructure assets
• Ensures that the scope of work is fulfilled as directed and that the contracted deliverable is submitted out on schedule and as budgeted
• Data entry/manipulation and technical writing skills for the preparation and review of inspection reports, proposals, etc.
• Analyzes deteriorated components of marine and bridge structures to assess load capacity
• Prepares plans, specifications, cost estimates and supporting documentation
• Works collaboratively with all members of the inspection team and of other engineering disciplines
• Aids with civil and structural design
• Performs other duties as required

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from an accredited university. Structural coursework or focus is preferred
• Engineer in Training (EIT) required
• Certified Commercial Diver is required; ADCI, HSE, DCBC, IMCA, ADAS or completion of a US military equivalent diving school required
• Entry level to 4+ years of related diving and inspection experience required
• Valid driver’s license in good standing
• Boater Safety Card preferred

• Base Salary Range: $33.00 to $50.00 per hour based on years of experience, level of education obtained, professional registration, and meeting the required qualifications in the job description
