ENGINEER CONSTRUCTION 2

About the Role

Plans, designs, and oversees the construction of new or expanded facilities. Prepares architectural, engineering, and cost estimates, functional studies, construction plans, specifications, and schedules. Obtains and supervises outside contractors. Recommends architectural and engineering design procedures and standards for the planning and design of facilities. Supervises the detailed design, budgetary costing, standardized construction, and final inspection of facility projects. Conducts construction surveillance to ensure adherence to contractual requirements. Provides engineering consulting services to local and divisional offices.

This position manages the design and construction of electrical, mechanical, and structural work/systems associated with utility infrastructure, buildings, and other industrial construction projects. Responsibilities include:

• Reviewing codes, calculations, drawings, specifications, constructability, and material selection/substitutions to support assigned work.
• Performing contractor management and troubleshooting design or construction conflicts.
• Providing technical solutions and performing project-specific safety assessments/audits, quality control, and quality inspection to design standards.
• Preparing startup and commissioning documents, including checklists, operating procedures, and training for all assigned work.
• Conducting construction surveillance to ensure adherence to contractual requirements.
• Providing on-site resolution of engineering problems encountered during construction.
• Investigating problems incurred during testing and operations, resolving issues, and directing re-testing to ensure satisfactory system performance.
• Coordinating and managing multiple construction projects with various stakeholders, customers, maintenance, and operations personnel.
• Preparing project cost estimates and working with third parties to develop studies prior to design.

This position will support facilities in either the technical services, project management, or crane engineering team.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in engineering from an ABET-accredited program or a relevant degree in Construction Engineering, Project Management, Construction Management, or a related field.
• Minimum of 2 years of relevant exempt experience; a Master’s Degree may substitute for experience.
• Three years of experience in an industrial environment.

Pay

The anticipated salary range for this role is $82,000.00 to $103,000.00. Final compensation will be determined based on experience, qualifications, and other job-related factors.
