About the role

As a Maintenance Engineer (Class 2), you will ensure a safe, efficient, and well-maintained hotel environment while providing courteous and professional maintenance services to guests. This role involves addressing guest room and public area maintenance, performing preventative maintenance, and collaborating with the engineering team to keep all areas in optimal condition.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain all mechanical items in guest rooms and public areas.
  • Receive and respond to house calls via radio.
  • Assist engineers and mechanics with repairs and maintenance tasks.
  • Clean all work areas after completing jobs.
  • Document daily work requests in Synergy.
  • Understand and follow Omni fire alarm procedures and emergency protocols.
  • Adhere to Omni Hotel rules and regulations.
  • Address guest room maintenance issues, including plumbing, lighting, electrical, and painting.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on guest rooms as assigned.
  • Work as a team to maintain back-of-house areas and equipment in safe, working order.
  • Assist mechanics and external contractors with repairs of hotel property and equipment.
  • Complete all assigned work orders and daily tasks.
  • Understand and comply with OSHA rules and regulations.
  • Familiarize yourself with all hotel amenities and facilities.

Requirements

  • Prior building maintenance experience and/or relevant technical training, including experience with commercial laundry and kitchen equipment.
  • Knowledge and ability to use proper equipment and tools (ladders, genie-lift, etc.), including personal protective equipment.
  • Proficiency in painting, basic plumbing, basic electrical, minor carpentry, lighting, and computer skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
  • Professional business appearance, attitude, and performance.
  • Excellent customer service and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work a variety of shifts, including weekends and holidays.

Environment & Physical Demands

  • Move, bend, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing up to 50 pounds without assistance.
  • Stand, walk, or sit for extended periods or an entire work shift.
  • Perform repetitive motions of arms and hands.

Tools & Equipment

  • Painting and finishing tools and equipment.
  • Ladders, telephones, pens/pencils, and copying machines.
  • Push-to-talk radios.
  • SALTO Card system.
  • Basic and power hand tools (e.g., hammers, screwdrivers).
  • Step stools and ladders.
