Description
Performs a variety of aircraft cabin/interiors engineering work including drawing interpretation, design and substantiation as related to transport category aircraft cabin interior modifications.
What You Will Be Responsible For
- Design and analyze aircraft cabin interior systems and components, typically in support of aircraft interior modifications (STC projects) including integration of seats, monuments, PSUs, flooring, emergency equipment, sidewall/dado/ceiling panels, windows, stowage bins and placards.
- Work independently to gather data and input on the development of original designs or adaptations of existing designs after having been given general instructions regarding scope and parameters.
- Prepare cabin interior modification/installation/fabrication drawings, engineering reports and work instructions.
- Participate in design reviews and presentations with suppliers, customers, and various internal departments to obtain input on, agreement with, and understanding of project objectives and schedules.
- Troubleshoot aircraft issues during STC prototype and post STC using standard sing tools and methods.
- Travel both domestically and internationally (up to 10%).
What You Will Need to Be Successful in This Role
- Bachelor's Degree in Aerospace, Aeronautical or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
- 2+ years of engineering design or analysis experience.
- Experience with commercial aircraft (Airbus or Boeing) required.
- Familiarity with Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs - from Title 14 of the Code of Federal Regulations) as they apply to transport category aircraft.
- Familiarity with the FAA Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) process.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and technical publications (i.e.: Structural Repair Manual (SRM), Aircraft Maintenance Manual (AMM), Illustrated Parts Catalog (IPC)).
- Experience creating engineering details, assemblies and installation drawings using AutoCAD/Inventor and standard engineering drawing convention.
