Engineer

Responsibilities

• Work with a team of experienced engineers evaluating electrical and electronic control systems used in consumer, commercial and industrial products.
• Apply engineering fundamentals to the assessment of hardware, software, and embedded control systems.
• Gain experience in the application of international safety standards, including UL/CSA/IEC 60730-1 for automatic electrical controls.
• Develop technical expertise in embedded hardware, software-controlled systems, and functional safety engineering.
• Participate in laboratory testing, engineering analysis, customer interactions, and project management activities.

Qualifications

• University Degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related engineering discipline from an accredited program.
• PREFERRED: Coursework, internship, co-op, research, military, or professional experience involving: Electronic circuit design and analysis, Embedded systems or microcontroller-based products, Control systems or industrial automation, Firmware or software development, Electrical testing and laboratory equipment, Reading and interpreting electrical schematics and technical documentation.

About the Role

Join UL Solutions' AHL Controls Engineering team and help evaluate the safety and reliability of electrical and electronic control systems used in appliances, HVAC equipment, lighting products, and other electronically controlled devices. This engineering role combines hands-on technical analysis, laboratory testing, and customer interaction while developing expertise in embedded controls, safety-related software, and international safety standards such as UL/IEC 60730-1.
