About the role
The position involves performing transportation or traffic engineering work on traffic signal timing studies, signal systems management, and operations. The role also includes developing existing and optimized condition models in Synchro, implementing new traffic signal timing plans, adjusting signal timing based on field traffic conditions, conducting traffic engineering studies, and managing traffic systems.
Responsibilities
- Perform transportation or traffic engineering work on traffic signal timing studies, signal systems management, and operations
- Travel time runs/collect and interpret travel time data
- Develop the existing condition and optimized condition models in Synchro
- Develop basic controller interval timings
- Develop coordinated timing plans
- Implement new traffic signal timing plans at field
- Adjust signal timing at field based on field traffic conditions
- Collect traffic signal/ITS equipment inventory
- Conduct traffic engineering studies, traffic impact analyses, traffic operation and safety studies
- Conduct systems integration and network management activities
- Perform ITS equipment field implementation and support
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree (four-year college or technical school) required in Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field or equivalent work experience
- Professional Engineer (PE) license in any state is required
- Professional Traffic Operations Engineer (PTOE) license is preferred
- IMSA Traffic Signal Field Technician Level II (or willingness to obtain; we provide financial assistance)
- Minimum five (5) years of experience in transportation engineering principles including signal timing studies
- Demonstrated experience in transportation engineering applications/programs, as listed below:
- Traffic signal optimization and simulation software, including but not limited to Synchro, SimTraffic, Tru-Traffic, ATSPM and other traffic analysis software
- Traffic signal controller and ATMS platforms; We provide extensive internal training programs

Pay
Iteris anticipates paying between $106,600 and $118,700 for this role. However, actual pay offered may vary depending on job related knowledge, skills, and experience.
Schedule
The position will require frequent travel locally or nationwide.
